St Mary's has 6 bells, ranging from the lightest bell, called the treble, to the heaviest bell (over 8cwt) called the tenor. Bells 1, 2, 3 and 5 were cast by J. Taylor & Co of Loughborough in 1892. Bells 4 and 6 were cast by “Rob Cor” in 1703. The Cors were founders in Aldbourne, Wiltshire.
Come and see bell-ringing in action and have a go at ringing a bell.
At various times throughout the morning there will be an opportunity to climb the spiral staircase to see the bells and visit the roof of the tower, from which there are wonderful views over the village and countryside. The steps of the spiral staircase are uneven. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
