Meet the Team

Our HistBites team come from across the county of Hampshire and further afield. They all have a love for history; with some volunteering a couple of days a week and others just a few hours.

If you want to be part of this enthusiastic and welcoming team click here to find out more. There are currently vacancies for social media specialists, writers and website editors.

Hampshire HistBites is, apart from the occasional commissioned piece, completely volunteer based. There is always a lot of work going on behind the scenes, and the team meeting fortnightly (usually via Zoom) to catch up on anything and everything related to HistBites.

Our Charity Trustees are grateful to everyone who has joined us to create this exciting new channel over the past two years. Three of our Trustees love HistBites so much, that they are also closely involved with production!

Richard North

Richard grew up in Winchester, before heading off to university to study history, and moving away for work. He joined HistBites because he was keen to get stuck into the thriving local history scene. When not storming around castles and cathedrals, enjoys cycling, running and printmaking.

Richard has been a Trustee since 2022, but first joined in 2021 as a Podcast Host, Audio Engineer and occasional writer.

Nicky Gottlieb

Since stumbling across it in 2015, Nicky has helped transform Heritage Open Days in Winchester into the thriving history festival it is today. With a head full of ideas, she delights in bringing the community together through so many different events.

When not at her computer or chasing the dog, Nicky is happiest pottering in her garden, watching tv dramas, and sampling the latest gin.

Becky Brown

Becky turned up to the 2016 Heritage Open Days here in Winchester, thought it so brilliant that she DM’d us on Twitter and asked if she could help. Next thing she knows she’s running our website and social media, supporting and coordinating our fabulous volunteers.

When she’s not volunteering you can find her hosting blog challenges, taking photographs and hiking in Portugal.
