The Weigh House and neighbouring vault is an historic building in French Street, in the Old Town, with a fascinating history.
From Friday 6th to Sunday 8th of September we will be opening some of our recently repaired vaults and monuments for the public to explore.
The Weigh House and the Weigh House Vault will be open from 10.00-15.00 (last entry 14.30). Maximum capacity is 30.
We will have volunteers welcoming visitors along with information boards and leaflets sharing the history of the monument, recent repairs, and ongoing and future conservation.
We will also be opening Quilters Vault, the Vault under 88 High Street plus Canute's Palace just a short walk away by Town Quay Park. This is an excellent opportunity to discover part of Southampton's history and celebrate the restoration of the city's ancient monuments.
Unfortunately, these venues are not easily accessible, because of this, we will have lots of our information available for anyone with accessibility issues to use at the entrance, as well as staff and volunteers to engage with them. There are also no facilities at these venues.

Please note that there will be a capacity limit due to the size and layout of the vault. This will be managed at the venue and is on a walk up basis.
