Rarely open to the public, this private tour takes you behind the scenes at Furzey Gardens. Meet our inclusive gardening team and find out about their work at this unique heritage garden, where people with learning disabilities find their place.
From gathering seed, to pricking out, to potting on and watering, the learning disability team are involved in every stage of raising the plants that are sold at Furzey Gardens. This tour offers you the chance to find out more, meet some of the team, as well as opportunities to purchase plants and seeds that have been grown in the gardens. If you wish, you can follow up your free tour with a visit to the tearooms and a wander round the Gardens themselves, for which a donation is appreciated.
Furzey Gardens is a secret woodland garden, nestled in the New Forest National Park. Its heritage is traced back to the 1920s and 30s when pioneering plant hunters brought new plants back from expeditions to remote areas of India, Tibet and China. Some of these original plant specimens are still growing in the gardens, after almost 100 years.
Furzey's pioneering heritage has continued with a social story of involving people with learning disabilities in all aspects of the gardens to prepare our visitor experience. It is a truly special place, with a passion for equality and wellbeing, as we welcome visitors of all abilities and all ages.

We are nestled in the heart of the New Forest, where there are free roaming animals, so please drive carefully and pass around them slow and wide.

Max 10 people per tour/session. 1 hour.
The nursery and gardens are on a hill and the informal woodland paths and gradients mean that parts are not wheelchair accessible.
