A historical guided walk of the pubs and brewery sites in Alton Hampshire - 'the Burton of the South'. A leisurely 2 hour plus walk through Alton to see the sites of Alton's pubs and breweries with two stops at local pubs to sample local beers.

A guided walk at a leisurely pace, duration about 2 hours 15 minutes - 3miles maximum.

The walk will highlight most of the pubs and brewery sites in the Hampshire town of Alton - sometimes referred to as the 'Burton of the South'.

Being sited at the source of the river Wey (with it's lovely waters) Alton has been a brewery town for hundreds of years.

With over 40 points of 'Beer' interest and other historical anecdotes about the town we take a leisurely stroll through the town, plus for those who wish we have time to sample local beers in two venues. Note participants are expected to buy their own beer.

All are welcome including dogs.

Lion's Bench - The Butts Alton. Location is close by the A31 exit at the west end of Alton by-pass. Near the A339 Limited parking nearby please park in one of the town centre car parks - fees apply Station is circa 25 minutes walk away - however walk finishes near the station.

Well behaved Dogs on lead welcome.

Wheel chair users will need assistance - entry to pubs visited have a couple of steps at the entrance. Generally the route is on accessible pavements and roads.

Be prepared if wet weather is forecast - it is an open air event.
