Flora Twort was an artist in Petersfield, remembered for her sketches and paintings of the town before WWII. Wendy Couchman, a local author & artist will give a talk about her research into Flora's life and work.
Wendy Couchman, a local author and artist, discovered the story of Flora Twort amongst the diaries in the Hampshire Archives - a valuable and underused resource of ideas for writers.
Flora was an artist in Petersfield, remembered at the Petersfield Museum and Gallery for her sketches and paintings of the town before the second world war. Her story, published this year as a graphic novel, covers her diary entries for the first year of the war, where her professional and everyday life had to carry on in the midst of The Blitz.
In her talk, Wendy will illustrate her research and production process, drawing on her own creative background in the choice of the graphic novel format - the powerful combination of pictures and text to communicate the story.
